A few days ago marked the 12 anniversary of Frackers. It's been a bumpy road at times, but we're still around thanks to a small, but dedicated community who have never given up on this place. Thank you for that! :)

It's no secret that the forum has been half-dead for a long time now. In fact, most communities like ours are either dead or dying. The Internet has changed a lot since 2008 (when Frackers was born). It's not easy to compete with social media, smart phones, tubes, etc. Also, 12 years is a very long time, most of our past members have simply moved on with their lives.

In its current state, Frackers can't survive for long. It would be easy for me to simply pull the plug and move on with my life, but it doesn't feel right. Even though it's discouraging to see a non-existing community (and to lose money every month to keep the forum going,) I think Frackers deserves at least one more chance.

Like I said though, Frackers can't continue in its current state. If there's any chance that the forum thrives again, we need to make massive structural changes. We need to update the forum, content, staff, and overall format of the site. Of course, we will still be a porn forum at heart, but we need to be a porn forum from 2020, not one from 2008. I'm still not sure what a "porn forum from 2020" is to be honest, we need to work on the concept.

The first thing to do is to figure out exactly what this new concept would be (ideas are welcome). We also need to rebuild our staff, all current staff that wants to be a part of the next incarnation of Frackers reply here or send me a message. If you're not a staff member now but you'd like to be, contact me and let me know. The truth is, Frackers won't go anywhere without a solid (and active) staff.

One thing I'm already doing is to work on the upgrade of the server and forum software. Probably in early or mid March we will be running XenForo 2.1 (or 2.2), during or right after this upgrade it will be the perfect opportunity to implement (or start implementing) the massive structural changes we need.

Anyway, more to come on this. Thanks for reading, and thank you again for sticking around with us! :)

It is very sad and I am at the same time encouraged to see that maybe an incarnation is possible. I can definitely be glad to be considered part of the next incarnation and if you need help as a staff member, I will be able to participate. I can help in the proxy section and similar section. active members and participants are important to continue. Attracting good talents to help things to grow, will be a suggestion.

Thanks mate. I'll put you in the list then. :) Putting together a cracking team is definitely one of the goals. Because it's getting harder and harder to crack porn sites, I would like porn passes to be one of the components of the new Frackers and not the main component.

An active forum would definitely attract new talent though.

I was expecting a post like this to come at some point. I'm still here and willing to do what I can. It would be shame to see this forum close like so many others have!

Thanks mate. We'll definitely keep going. I'm going to start working on the forum upgrade this week. Once that is done I think we'll be in position to start talking about ideas to improve the forum.

I'm also considering maybe changing the name of the site. Frackers was a funny idea (to those who understand the joke anyway) when we came up with it, but now it's more associated with the oil industry. Our SEO is crap, so we wouldn't lose anything in terms of search engine traffic anyway.

If anyone has any name ideas, please let us know. :)

I will begin the forum upgrade process next week. It's a major upgrade, so it'll probably take me a couple of weeks to complete. After the forum is upgraded we can begin talking about the other forum changes. I'm still considering a name change, but only if there's a good alternative. Once (if) I have a few ideas I'll ask for opinions.

What does 'Frackers' mean then? I always thought it was something related to 'crackers'? Care to elaborate on its origin?

The origin of the name is an inside joke. A good friend of mine is a big fan of Battlestar Galactica and Caprica, she once told me that on one (or both?) of these shows they'd use "frack" instead of "fuck". "Frackers" is supposed to mean "Fuckers", basically.

I never made the connection between "crackers" and "Frackers", but I can see it now. The name doesn't really relate to the forum, not that it will make a difference on whether or not we can increase its activity, that will depend on other factors. But like I said, our SEO is basically non-existent, if there was ever a good time to make a name change, that is now.

I'll concentrate on that after I'm done upgrading the forum though. I'll start working on it today. The good news is that the forum has little customization, so the process should be relatively fast and painless.

If you want to research other forums, you should check out https://passlist.net

There used to be a forum called BitPasses which I found through Passlist and they were very modern and used very fancy forum software. They even had 'daily pass' which gave you 24 hours to surf the premium section and gather some passes. It was great that they offered a really cheap pricing tier.

Frackers of course is better and has a better selection of sites to visit (including some rare sites that look really hard to crack as they have Google reCaptcha and other methods to stop a brute force session). I wouldn't mind forking out EUR 25 to get access to the premium section, as it's more than worth it IMHO

Forum upgrade is looking really spiffy. Glad to see renewed interest in Frackers and looking forward to its future 'incarnation'

Should there be a small (public) debate in the forum as to the new name or will the new name be conjured up privately? I'd say you get a lot of traffic from the anti-fracking community lol

If we do change the name I'll probably try to sell the Frackers domain to one of those groups. :D I already have a few ideas, I'll try to post them soon. Ideally we'd get the .com of the new name, but I don't think it's going to be possible unless we choose a very unique name or something too long.

Sorry for not giving you more updates about this. I've been very busy with work, but I will have more free time in the coming days. I already have a few name ideas, I'll let you all know soon my ideas. I'll probably do a little private survey about this, I don't think I'll post it in public for obvious reasons. ;)
